Hand4Paws received an urgent plea from an individual who said the cats at the McDonough County Animal Shelter in Macomb, Illinois needed rescued asap. The message read:

“An animal shelter in Illinois has been “closed” to the public due to a death in the animal control officer’s family. For nearly a week, the shelter has been accepting animals into the facility but has not been adopting them out.  The shelter is now nearly filled to capacity. We are concerned that some of the animals will be euthanized next week when the animal control officer returns to work on Monday.  Several of the cats at the shelter are pregnant.

We are asking for your help to find foster and/or forever homes for the cats and dogs at this facility. Time is of the essence for these amazing animals.  Please help – before it is too late.”

PLEASE if anyone can…

Dogpaddling Through Life

Oh Dog! Yesterday was a very sad day.

As Jen was leaving for the store, she saw a kitty we hadn’t seen for awhile, and she was in terrible shape.  She has a hematoma in one ear and the other looks like it had one that ruptured.

The kitty used to be vocal and not so frightened. This time she was terrified.

As we ponder our options, I thought it might be a good idea to revisit June Buggie and Hissy Fit Jones’ debate on feral kitties.

There are no easy answers.

Dogpaddling Through Life

Oh Dog! It’s Sunday, so that means it’s time for a visit with Dear DeDe. That’s me!!!!

Do you hate puppy mills?  I sure do.  I can’t believe that the people of this country still allow those hell-holes to exist.  Does that describe your feelings?

Then how about doing something about it?

The Humane Society of the United States is sponsoring a ‘Why Puppy Mills Stink” video contest!  I know some of you are into making your own videos, so here’s a chance to show the rest of us your stuff!

If your video is chosen, it will be broadcast on TV in your state!  Are you game?  Then go to the HSUS website for all the details!

But ya better do it soon, because the deadline for submitting your video is May 6th.

Just think…. one day soon I could be watching TV and see your video educating people…

Canadian Horse Defence Coalition's Blog

Politically incorrect.

Recently I was told that I should bring up the subject of horse slaughter at the political forum that was held on April 16th 2012 in Coaldale, Alberta by Little Bow NDP candidate Bev Muendel-Atherstone, where she along with Everett Tanis (Liberal), John Kolk (PC) & Ian Donovan (Wildrose) also Little Bow candidates.

Time was limited, our questions had to be short & the candidates were only allowed about 1 minute to answer them, so I decided to just get to the point & ask them where they stood on Alex Atamanenko’s Bill C-322. All four of them said that they support horse slaughter. Here is how they responded to my question;

 John Kolk (PC)

“This is from the provincial  side of things, but I would not be in favour of supporting that (Bill C322),  the animals that we work with & there are all kinds of…
