Target: U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Goal: Support the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s proposal to change its policies and eradicate discrimination against same-sex couples at the U.S. border.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced a proposal to adjust its current policy on the way families are processed through customs at the U.S. border. The way the policy stands now, heterosexual couples and same-sex couples are processed in different ways. Same-sex partners and spouses are not recognized as members of a family.

Currently, heterosexual couples are processed together, and can enjoy a “dual customs screening.” However, same-sex couples have not been subject to the same treatment, and are processed separately regardless of relationship or marital status. Recognizing this as an inequity, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) would like to revise the current regulations and expand the definition of the term…

Dogpaddling Through Life

Oh Dog! I have a guest that has some important information to share with you today about ticks and the diseases they carry.  Pippa says he was a streetdog in Spain before he found his people, and now spends his time between Gibraltar  and his Spanish finca.  He likes to chase cats, eat toast, lie on his sofa in his Gib kennel flat, and lie in the sun by the gate at his Spanish finca.  He has a pretty laid back life now after scavenging on the streets for some time years ago.

How about it everybody, give it up for Pippa at Pippadogblog!

Rumpy:  Thanks so much for being my guest today and for talking to us about tick diseases.  So Pippa, tell me what happened to you.

Pippa:  Well, I was feeling pretty under the weather.  I didn’t do boundaround for my food, and I struggled to…

Horse-Haters Run from Pro-Horse Counter Conference

In a vague and jumbled press release, Quarter Horse trainer, Dave Duquette announced that the 2nd Annual Summit of the (Slaughter) Horse, which was touted to be held in Oklahoma City next week, will be “rescheduled” to sometime in January of next year.  Doubt and defeat of Duquette and Sue Wallis’ attempts to reintroduce foreign owned horse slaughterhouses into the U.S. have dogged the duo as they try to convince a doubting American public that butchering and eating companion animals and pets is a good thing.

In defiance of the “Summit” equine advocates from across the nation have organized several counter conferences in an attempt to get the “pro-horse” message out to the American people.

Simone Netherlands of Respect4Horses and lead promoter for the Summit of the Live Horse, to be held in Oklahoma City next week spoke…

Our Compass

For Australian fashion designer Arthur Galan to use fur knowing what a ‘bloody’ truly evil trade it is, is simply unconscionable. Mr Galan clearly has no empathy for animals who are violently killed so he can profit from their fur. There is no such thing as humane fur and Mr Galan must know this. For this high-profile designer who has 19 stores across Australia to continue using fur when the treatment of animals is now more important to the public than it ever has been, is very worrying. We must not allow Mr Galan to hide his head in the sand and pretend the fur he uses doesn’t come from animals who are tortured and skinned alive. We must ensure Mr Galan holds his head in shame.
